Why do round and fancy prices differ?
Round stones follow a sieve system. Each sieve sets a millimeter range, and each range sets a weight and a piece count per carat. A 0.25 ct round sits in the 4.10 to 4.20 mm band. At INR 7,500 per carat, the stone costs INR 1,875 before any setting.
Fancy shapes carry a higher rate in the smaller bands. Cutting an oval, pear or emerald from rough takes more planning. Yield is lower than for a round, so the per-carat price rises.
How much does a 1 carat lab-grown diamond cost?
Our list does not show a 1.00 ct round line. Round prices stop at the 0.50 to 0.99 ct band. For a 1 ct stone, contact our team with the shape, color, clarity and certificate you need. We will quote from current stock and confirm availability first.
What drives the price up or down?
- Size: Larger stones cost more per carat in most markets, but sieve bands keep prices stable within a range.
- Color and clarity: Quality A (EF, VVS or VS) costs more than Quality B (GH, VS or SI) in every band on our list.
- Shape: Fancy shapes cost more than rounds in the 0.10 to 0.49 ct band.
- Certification: Certified and non-certified stones are priced differently. [NEED: confirm the price difference for IGI, GIA and GCAL certified stones.]
- Market timing: Wholesale prices have fallen fast. Analyst Edahn Golan's Q1 2026 wholesale list, reported by JCK, showed midstream lab-grown prices down 14% year on year. A 3 ct VVS D round sold for USD 126 per carat, 30% lower than in 2025.
How should a jeweler compare quotes?
1. Ask for the sieve or carat band, not just the total price.
2. Confirm the color and clarity grade in writing.
3. Check whether the quote includes certification and GST. [NEED: confirm GST treatment on trade quotes.]
4. Ask about lead time and minimum order. Our production team can run dedicated parcels with matched specifications.
5. Ask for the stock photo and 360 video before you commit.
Our services page covers loose diamonds, custom jewelry and private-label work for trade buyers.
